With the minimal running footwear trend underway, many brands are researching the extreme end of the trend and designing ‘barefoot running’ footwear (sounds like a paradox). I’m testing this new and yet ancient running philosophy with a design I developed around a traditional Tarahumara Huarache design called ‘Pata de Gallo’, or ‘Roosters Foot’. So far so good, I need to strengthen my foot muscles so I’m building up slowly to prevent injury, but the liberating feeling of the air on my feet as I run is the best.
For more on this design check out http://huaracheblog.wordpress.com/, or to know more about the first commercialized running huaraches read my post on Luna Sandals – Huaraches For Running. If you would like to see my other Huarache design check my post titled ‘Making My Huaraches‘.
