Fashion designer Barbara de Vries has put her own spin on environmentally friendly design and is tackling the problem of plastic pollution in her own interesting and unusual way.
By seeing richness and value in the washed up pieces of plastic contaminating her local beach, she and her team up-cycle many of the pieces of plastic to decorate clothes and create fashion accessories.
Check out here interesting presentation, that also touches on some subtler points regarding plastic.

Coincidentally there is another interesting beach plastic environmental project with similar name that deserves a mention.
Since 1999 Richard Lang and Judith Selby Lang have been collecting plastic from Kehoe Beach and up-cycling it into art. Creating prints and exhibitions around the world, telling stories and increasing public awareness.
An awareness of plastic waste that is especially important with the potential 3D printing boom just around the corner, a process that is currently building mostly plastic products.
