Impossible Gears: Inspiring Alternative Motion Innovation

This looks like its going to be one of those posts that I’ll keep adding to over time.

I would like to thank all the known, but I think mostly unknown inventors for the dizzying mechanical wonders featured below.

Although gears are relatively simple systems, when compared to many modern inventions like electronics, they must nonetheless also be made with the utmost precision if they are to function.

Not only, but complex gears show that it is possible to create sophisticated movement and articulation that is both unusual and compelling. Something that for me this is very inspirational in performance footwear; product that needs to be both functional and aesthetically new.
