I don’t know the history of the very rare craft of Native American Watch Cuffs; besides the fact that Native American silver jewelry tradition started with silver from coins and military ornaments traded with Spanish soldiers and English traders and that they are associated with sad histories of dead pawn jewelry.
But the juxtaposition of a traditional artistic aesthetic with a vintage industrial one is fascinating.
The same fascinating combination that can be applied to footwear design also.
They look so awkward and imperfect and yet so beautiful.
I wish I knew more.
