Sometimes we know why we do things and sometimes we don’t, but we always keep going. Experiencing the highs and low’s of the journey followed by the mixed sense of accomplishment and disappointment at the finish line. The same is true of any design project.
Except that the Badwater Ultramarathon is a 135 miles (217km) run, non-stop for 24 hours in temperatures up to 130F (55c). From 282 feet below sea level at Badwater in Death Valley to 8360 feet above sea level at Whitney Portals on Mt. Whitney, CA, the Badwater is all run uphill!
So why do people run the Badwater?
Because running helps us focus on and enjoy the essential, connecting us with our millenary human roots and the natural order of the world.
