I first saw this unusual vehicle at the Bonneville Salt Flats during Speed Week. Belly Tank Racesters are an interesting form of ‘Upcycling‘ transforming and reusing the wing tanks from old airplanes.
Invented after WW2 by Bill Burke who while looking for car parts to make a Hot Rod discovered that old airplane belly tanks were plentiful and cheap to buy.
